Canada’s Carousel Film Festival showcasing Iranian cinema

TEHRAN, Sept. 20 (MNA) -- This year’s Carousel Film Festival of Rimouski, Canada features a special section dedicated to Iranian cinema.

The Iranian films “Where Is the Friend’s Home” directed by Abbas Kiarostami, “Little Man” directed by Ebrahim Foruzesh, “Child and the Soldier” directed by Seyed Reza Mirkarimi, and “Paradise is Somewhere Else” directed by Abdul Rasul Golban and some other films produced by the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA) are being screened at the festival, which opened on September 18 and continues until September 27.

 

The Iranian animation films “Superpowers” directed by Nureddin Zarrinkelk, “Flower, Bird, and Sun” directed by Bahram Javaheri, and “The Story of Apple” directed by Mozaffar Sheida’i and Ramin Sheida’i are also being shown at the Canadian filmfest.

 

On September 23, a special ceremony in honor of Iran will be held and the film “Cask” directed by Ebrahim Foruzesh will be screened for producers, critics, and news agency reporters.

 

Iranian and Canadian officials and some of the directors participating in the festival are scheduled to attend the ceremony.

 

Iranian Farzad Mihani is on the jury of the festival.

 

Thirty animation films from Japan, the United States, Germany, France, Belgium, Brazil, Poland, Canada, Uruguay, and New Zealand are also being screened.

 

In addition, the festival will be holding a workshop on filmmaking for young people, and two other workshops.
